A reservation costs nothing. We do not charge you when you reserve. You may cancel a reservation at any time before we charge you, by any of these methods:

When you purchase an Encrypted Diary license, you have 30 days from the date of purchase to request a full refund. We will refund you in full, with no questions asked, for any reason or for no reason at all.
We process refunds within 5 business days. The refund is issued to the original payment method through Stripe. Depending on your bank, the credit typically appears within 3-10 business days after we process it.
Your right to use the license ends. Because the diary verifies licenses entirely offline — it never phones home, by design — we have no technical way to reach into your device and switch anything off, and we accept that trade-off as the price of your privacy. We simply ask, on the honor system, that you stop using a refunded license. Your data on your device remains yours — we have no way to delete it, and we wouldn't even if we could. If you want to use the diary later, you can re-purchase a license.
After 30 days, the 30-day guarantee no longer applies. However, we are reasonable people. If you have a serious problem — the software stopped working through our fault, we promised something we failed to deliver, a major bug damaged your data — please write to us. We will work it out fairly. There is no hard rule that says "absolutely no refunds after day 31"; there is just a rule that says we won't be obligated by policy. We will still try to be fair.
Continuing Care plans are optional subscriptions for software updates and encrypted cloud sync.
If you cancel within 14 days of a renewal charge, we will refund you in full. After 14 days, you may cancel future renewals at any time, but the current year is not refundable.
If you cancel within 30 days of the original purchase, we will refund you in full. After 30 days, these plans are non-refundable, because the cloud-storage and update infrastructure has been committed for your benefit. You may still cancel — your existing data is preserved per our Data Retention rules — but a refund is not available.
Gift licenses follow the same 30-day rule, with one nuance: the 30-day clock starts on the day the recipient activates the gift, not the day it was purchased. If the recipient has not activated within 90 days, the purchaser may request a refund of the unactivated gift.
Please contact us before filing a chargeback with your bank. Chargebacks cost both of us money and time, and we will almost always refund you faster than a chargeback would resolve. If you have a problem, email us first. We're easy to reach.
The fastest way to get a refund is to email [email protected]. We aim to respond to refund requests within 2 business days, often the same day. Refunds are processed within 5 business days of approval. Bank settlement times are outside our control.
